Burglar Steals Wife’s Ashes From Man

Jimmy Holmes of Coeur d'Alene learned how low someone will go after discovering Sunday that his RV had been burglarized. The thief took a new impact gun, a cordless drill, saws, three batteries, a battery charger, Jimmy's Black Hills gold wedding ring -- and his late wife's ashes. The RV had been parked at Coles Towing, 5920 Government Way. Sometime between 5 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 10, and 6:30 p.m. Sunday, a burglar entered the back door of the RV and stole the items, according to a Kootenai County deputy's report. Adding insult to injury, the thief took Jimmy's size 12 wedding ring (with a purple amethyst stone in the center and green and rose gold leaves surrounding it). From a cabinet, the thief stole a wooden box, covered in bule felt or velvet, which contained a small urn with the ashes of Jimmy's late wife. Also stolen were Jimmy military ID card which had his Social Security number on it. There are currently now suspects in the theft.
