13YOs Face Arson Charges

Police have arrested two suspects this week in two unrelated arson incidents that occurred on Tubbs Hill and Independence Point this summer. According to Sgt. Christie Wood, the first 13-year-old suspect was arrested Friday on one count of arson related to the Tiki Hut stand at Independence Point and returned to his father. But in subsequent interviews, Wood said, the teen allegedly confessed and was taken into custody and charged with two counts of arson, two counts of burglary and two counts of malicious injury to property. ... The city's Community Action Team was also instrumental in the arrest of another 13-year-old suspect who was taken into custody Thursday afternoon on two counts of arson related to the fires on Tubbs Hill.
