The atmosphere at a coffee shop is as important to me as the coffee served. I want to hobnob with a friend(s) in a comfortable and welcoming setting. I prefer Riverstone Starbucks as a corporate venue. And I'm becoming fond of the Grumpy Monkey at 4th Street and I-90 and Bakery by the Lake for a locally owned setting. Kootenai Coffee (now Longboard) seems to have lost a little of its hospitable atmosphere in the change of ownership. Java on 4th and Calypso's may be too spacious. Riverstone Starbucks too cramped. The Vault too sterile (but the coffee is great). How about you.
