Sanders campaign sues DNC 

The Bernie Sanders campaign has filed a breach of contract lawsuit against the Democratic National Committee after it blocked the campaign's access to voter data, leaving the candidate's team "hamstrung" and losing "critical fundraising and publicity opportunities," according to new legal documents.

Feds want more waterfront trees cut 

In the wake of the controversial removal of hundreds of trees along the Dike, the city of Coeur d'Alene is now facing federal requirements to remove more trees. This time, FEMA is the agency involved. FEMA regs will require the city to move about 10 trees on NW Blvd in front of the North Idaho Museum.

St Vinnys revises warming center policy 

Jeff Conroy of St. Vincent de Paul's announced today that the organization is revising its 7-year-old warming center policy, to open the center when the temperature dips below 28 degrees. In the past, the center opened when the temperature his 25 degrees. But St. Vinnys considers anything under 32 degrees to be too cold to be outside.

Otter PAC logo looks nothing like rat 11 

Idaho Gov. Butch Otter said it was First Lady Lori Otter who brought him a graphic artist’s rendition of a cartoon otter logo for the couple’s new PAC, a symbol he’s never used before in any of his 25 campaigns, 24 of which he won. “It is so cute,” Otter said.

Obama commutes sentences

President Barack Obama on Friday commuted the sentences of 95 prisoners and pardoned two more, part of an ongoing effort within the White House to rethink a criminal justice system that critics say has resulted in overly harsh and expensive sentences for thousands of drug offenders.

On her Facebook wall, Kerri Thoreson writes: "The visiting team from Canada take their position in the outfield at Brett James ball field on N. Spokane Street." She snapped the photo Thursday morning when some 50 Canada geese where milling around. Later in the day, Kerri estimates, there must have been around 200 geese.

Otter forms PAC to fundraise 

Gov. Butch Otter has formed a new political action committee, Otterpac, that can accept unlimited contributions from corporations, and plans to donate to GOP campaigns from the state level down to party precinct committee posts. It’s a move that could make Otter, long a formidable campaign fund-raiser, stay relevant in Idaho electoral politics.
