On The Waterfront — 1.29.15

I went solo today during the noon walk because Greg Lee was working on a story re: the death of former Major League infielder Rocky Bridges, who retired to Coeur d'Alene after playing for a handful of teams during his 11-year career and later managing and coaching. A city Street Department heavy equipment operator was making short work of tree stumps with a Kubota backhoe at the corner of Rosenberry Drive and Hubbard Ave. He was popping out the stumps at about 1 ever minute or so. The Street Department had more of the work area taped off with yellow tape including much of the space used for Art in the Park. Only those willing to walk along the beach or through the college can get an idea of the work. You'll find greater impact along the Spokane River stretch of Dike Road than along the Lake Coeur d'Alene portion. Keith Erickson/Coeur d'Alene Today tells Huckleberries that the tree-cutting phase will be over by mid-February at the latest.
