Highway District Adds The Words

The Ada County Highway District Commission on Wednesday night voted unanimously to add "sexual orientation" and "gender identity" to its equal employment and anti-harassment policies, and to recognize same-sex marriages in the highway district's benefits package. "I also am proud of the district for being proactive and wanting to put this in its policy. It is a basic right that should be included," said new ACHD Commissioner Paul Woods. On Thursday, the Idaho House State Affairs Committee rejected a so-called Add the Words bill that would have added "sexual orientation" and "gender identity" to the state's Human Rights Act/Cynthia Sewell, Idaho Statesman.
