Wild Card/Thursday — 7.2.15

The 4th of July weekend has special meaning to Mrs. O and me. Thirty-eight years ago, we moved to Kalispell, Mont., from California's Central Valley to being this Northwest adventure. Mrs. O saw the Flathead Valley and her future home for the first time when we drove our U-Haul into it. We enjoyed fireworks at the home of the late C. Patrick King, then publisher of The Daily Inter Lake. Pat took us huckleberry picking and flyfishing behind the Hungry Horse Dam that first weekend. I cherish those five years in Montana. And the two years in Lewiston. And the 31 in Coeur d'Alene. It would be difficult to pick 3 better places to live. Now for today's Wild Card ...
