LDII: Commish Trashing Waterways

Last Democrat In Idaho (RE: County commissioners target shoreline buffer): These commissioners and the poorly informed consultants they hired to do their dirty work are so very badly informed about this issue. There is good, valid, time-proven science behind this very minimum setback requirement. Many states have far more stringent setbacks in place around their waterways. This is an obvious political decision, not driven by any science or desperate need of these lakeshore owners. It is the most short-sighted thing they can do for our community. The lakes and rivers are the crown jewels of north Idaho. To ignore the need for water quality protection/prevention is just about the most stupid idea of this decade! We have ample science and lake studies on Lake CDA to back up the need to minimize nutrient loading from shoreline impacts. Just ask the Idaho DEQ, the Tribe or the USGS, and take their advice. What can we do to stop this insane political decision?
