Squirrel KOs Post Falls Power

A squirrel knocked out power to 2,566 Post Avista customers in Post Falls for nearly an hour this morning. Debbie Simock, Avista senior communications manager, said the squirrel took out a transformer around 8:30 a.m. Crews deactivated the system to find out what caused the outage. Simock said customers living in the west Fourth Avenue area south of the Spokane River were affected by the outage, and several traffic signals were also knocked out. Power was fully restored at 9:14 a.m./Coeur d'Alene Press.
