Trump: ‘Boycott Starbucks’

A barista pours steamed milk into a red paper cup while making an espresso drink at a Starbucks coffee shop in the Pike Place Market, Tuesday, in Seattle. It's as red as Santa's suit, a poinsettia blossom or a loud Christmas sweater. Yet Starbucks' minimalist new holiday coffee cup has set off complaints that the chain is making war on Christmas. Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump suggested boycotting Starbucks after the coffeehouse chain opted for a simpler holiday cup. “Did you read about Starbucks?” Trump asked supporters during a rally in Springfield, Ill., on Monday, according to the Washington Post. “No more ‘Merry Christmas’ at Starbucks. No more.” Starbucks releases its traditional red holiday cup each November. Past designs have included imagery such as snowflakes, snowmen and Christmas trees. But this year, Starbucks opted for a red cup sans imagery, which has caused a backlash among some Christians, who say it’s a blow against Christmas, according to the Los Angeles Times. “Maybe we should boycott Starbucks,” Trump said/The Hill. More here.

DFO: I certainly hope fellow Evangelicals will wish good will to Starbucks employees rather than tell the hard-working young men and women dispensing caffeine elixir that their names are "Merry Christmas." Dumb idea.

Question: A major presidential candidate suggesting a boycott of a major business, really?
