3 held on kidnap, assault charges

Three Coeur d’Alene residents are in jail on charges of kidnapping and assaulting a Washington woman last week. The 25-year-old victim told police she was abducted by force from the Broadway Foods supermarket in Spokane on Wednesday and driven across the state line to the Rathdrum area, where she was physically assaulted. “She was able to flee after her captors left the area where she was being held,” the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release. Deputies responded to the area of Highway 53 and Hidden Valley Road about 7:30 p.m. Wednesday for a report of a woman walking along the highway, bound in duct tape. Several passing motorists had stopped to help her until deputies arrived. The victim was taken to Kootenai Health, where she was treated and released. Her name and home town were not released/SR.
