Izzit just me -- or does the air smell better and the water seem cleaner in the Shire today? The voters or Coeur d'Alene turned out last night to push back the lengthening shadow of Mordor that had crept into our School Board before being repelled. And now has been largely repelled from City Hall.

Last year, the SR featured the large outdoor Christmas scene erected by homeowner Jeremy Morris of Hayden. The cutline read: "'We've got almost 90 volunteers,' said Jeremy Morris standing next to his wife Kristy and their daughter Savannah Claire, 3, in front of their home in Hayden on Thursday, December 18, 2014. The couple has transformed their home into a holiday destination with an abundance of lights, music, a choir, and a live camel and free hot chocolate." Now, the couple's homeowners association is threatening to sue to stop the Morrises from offering the Christmas display again. (Kathy Plonka / The Spokesman-Review)

Gookin gets 1,131-1,151 undervotes 12

In breaking down the Coeur d'Alene City Council numbers, I notice that between 1,131-1,151 fewer people voted in the election for incumbent Dan Gookin than voted in the two other council races. Gookin ran unopposed for a second, four-year term on the council. Question: What do these tea leaves mean?

DFO: We're not finished yet 25

My 2 Cents: All those who helped incumbent Ron Edinger and candidate Dan English tromp two conservative hardliners for Coeur d'Alene City Council seats Tuesday deserve to take a bow. Today's Poll: Are you pleased with the election results in your city?
