BCSO report details violent fight

At approximately 11:30 p.m. on September 29, 2015, Bonner County 911 operators received a 911 call with an open line. 911 operators heard screaming and the sounds of a violent struggle. Bonner County Deputies, as well as emergency medical personnel from Northern Lakes Fire Department, were immediately dispatched to an address in the 4800 block of Spirit Lake Cutoff Road. The investigation, initiated by the Bonner County Sheriff’s Office, indicated that Scott Spangler, a 55 year old male and his wife had been engaged in a violent struggle prior to the call. The wife stated that as the fight continued, the husband threatened to retrieve a firearm and kill himself, as well as the wife and children who were still present in the home. The husband collected what he believed to be all phones in the home, in an attempt to prevent the wife from summoning help. The wife located another phone and dialed 911, as she retrieved a firearm.
