In her Front Porch column today, Cindy spotlights Jeunette Nelson, who was born the same year the Titanic sank -- 1912. Report: Ranchers threatened firemen 17 

The Forest Service is investigating a report by a firefighter that he and others fighting the Tepee Springs Fire near Riggins were harassed and threatened with guns by landowners, reports Rocky Barker of the Idaho Statesman. The unidentified firefighter said the landowners were unhappy with the strategies firefighters were using.

Dance turns away home-schoolers 16 

More than 20 home-school students were turned away from the Homecoming Dance at Lake City High, including Kira Birdsall, who spent most of Saturday preparing for the big event. LCHS policy forbids anyone who is not attending a school within the district from attending. (Question: Is this good policy or bad policy?)

Body found off I-90 in CdA 

Coeur d’Alene police are investigating a dead body found in a brush fire early Thursday that started in a wooded area off of Interstate 90. The fire started around 3 a.m. in the hills above exit 14 in eastern Coeur d’Alene near Potlatch Hill Road.
