Merle Haggard has died after a series of recent health struggles. The legendary singer passed away on April 6, 2016, which was also his 79th birthday. Haggard canceled tour dates in December of 2015 after he checked into a hospital and learned he had double pneumonia.

Jay Inslee has joined the Seattle mayor in banning official travel to Mississippi due to the state’s new law allowing religious groups and some private businesses to refuse service to gay couples based on beliefs. Inslee on Tuesday barred anything but essential travel to Mississippi on the public’s dime.
Scott Maben/SR reports: "Kyle Odom will return to Idaho from Washington, D.C., to face charges in last month’s shooting of a Coeur d’Alene pastor outside his church. Odom, 30, was ordered by a judge Wednesday morning to be extradited to Idaho. He faces a charge of attempted first-degree murder in the March 6 shooting of Pastor Tim Remington."

Herb Criner appropriately finished his coaching career and life as a state champion. Criner, who coached the Coeur d’Alene football team to a state championship in 1982, died Saturday morning. He was 81. Criner was an assistant coach last fall for his son, Scott, the head coach at Rocky Mountain High near Boise.

Butch Otter says that something should be done about the Medicaid funding gap and then he does something -- vetoes a trailer bill that would have provide $5M+ to collect data on Idaho's gap population, etc. Well, I guess that is doing something.
