On the Waterfront …

Walking partner Greg Lee and I noticed during our noon walk that the city has erected a number of benches next to new trees and greenery in the colored brick area that fronts the future Coeur d'Alene Carousel. The area where the carousel will stand has been fenced off. Rebar has been set in the area that will serve as its base. After the walk, I asked a city official when the carousel would be construction. Organizer Rita Sims-Snyder told Taylor Viydo in early May that her group was about $20,000 short of its goal of $350,000 to construct the building that would house the carousel. At the time, Sims-Snyder said she expected the carousel to be open by the end of July at the earliest and this fall at the latest. The carousel will provide a nice addition to the vastly improved area behind Memorial Field when it is completed.
