Letter: Welcome Redoubt refugees

In his article “Raising serious doubts about American Redoubt,” Chris Carlson calls for “careful monitoring and serious scrutiny” of this new migration movement. It’s clear he and his tired, old progressive worldview are threatened by new arrivals. These “redoubt” immigrants are self-reliant, conservative refugees fleeing from oppressive rules, regulations and taxes in liberal controlled states. Most are also fully vetted with background documentation such as U.S. birth certificates and passports. They also have well documented histories of paying their taxes and volunteering in their former communities. Now, instead of welcoming these peaceful, civil and productive refugees, they are facing a backlash from Chris Carlson who is spreading fear and xenophobia. Please, Mr. Carlson, stop your hate and show some tolerance toward these immigrants/John Tappero, Spirit Lake. Letter to Coeur d'Alene Press editor.

Question: Have you heard of the American Redoubt movement?
