Don’t like Otter PAC? Don’t contribute

If Gov. C.L. "Butch" Otter can get both liberals and ultra-conservatives riled up in one move, you know it has to be a real doozy. Such is the case with the governor's formation of a new political action committee bearing his monicker: Otterpac. While the 73-year-old won't be seeking re-election to a fourth term in 2018, he made his intentions clear that he wants to continue to influence politics in the Gem State. Otterpac, he says, will be used to help Republican candidates he supports in races from the state level down to party precinct committee posts. Liberals are outraged because they see this, as Lewiston Tribune editorial writer Marty Trillhaase put it, a "corporate shakedown" and a "personal vendetta fund." Tea Party conservatives are also disenchanted because they have clearly split ideologically with Otter and those they would describe as RINOs, and Otterpac would allow the governor to continue undermining the Tea Party insurgency long after he has left office. Our reaction? Meh/Idaho Press-Tribune Editorial Board. More here.

Question: Do you care one way of the other about Otter PAC?
