Vet fights Hayden hunting violation

A veteran who is facing a misdemeanor hunting citation charge plead not guilty to the charge in court on Tuesday. The decision comes after James Brummett, 74, from Tacoma, said he wanted to have a jury trial. He said prosecutors offered that he pay a $250 fine but he declined. Brummett said he wanted to take the case "up the ladder." Brummett had initially said he planned to plead guilty. He served in the Coast Guard for 12 years. After his service, he became an avid deer hunter. He hunted in North Idaho around Hayden where his brother lives/Taylor Viydo, KREM. More here.

Question: Brummett knew he was doing wrong -- and did it any way. I respect his service to country. But that, as well as his age and declining health, doesn't give him a pass to violate Idaho's laws. Thoughts?
