KCSO seeks hit-and-run pickup

The Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office is seeking help identifying a vehicle involved in a hit-and-run collision near Hayden, Idaho. At about 7:40 p.m. Thursday, Dakota Howard, 21, of Spirit Lake, Idaho, was driving his Ford Ranger pickup carrying three passengers east on West Hayden Avenue when he was hit head-on by an unknown man turning south on North Huetter Road., a sheriff’s office news release says. Howard, Jacob Atikinson, 21, Tony Dement, 21, and Joanna Davis, 20, all suffered minor injuries and were taken to Kootenai Health in Coeur d’Alene. They have since been released.

The suspect vehicle is described as a large, red Dodge pickup with a utility bed, tool boxes and possibly a lumber rack and light colored writing on the doors, possibly a business name, the news release says. The suspect truck should have damage to the driver’s side headlight and front fender area, deputies say.
