Piotrowski slams Labrador legislation

Idaho Rep. Raul Labrador’s Democratic challenger, James Piotrowski, issued a statement today highly critical of Labrador’s “First Amendment Defense Act,” saying the measure would “open the door to unprecedented discrimination against Idahoans and millions of other Americans.”

The bill is designed to protect against any federal penalties, including loss of federal grants, contracts or tax exemptions, for those who act out of religious objections to same-sex marriage or extra-marital relations.

“This bill is dangerous and extreme,” Piotrowski said. “It does nothing to protect religious freedoms. All it does is make it easier for extremists like Raul Labrador to trample the constitutional rights of single mothers, the LGBT community, and anyone else who doesn’t fit his view of the world”/Betsy Russell, Eye on Boise.
