Idaho No. 5 in job creation
The Seattle boom notwithstanding, Washington didn’t come in as best in the Northwest for overall job creation coming out of the Great Recession and into this slow-growth recovery. This is at least the picture through 2013, the latest year for which thorough state data are available. According to Census Bureau data crunched by the California think tank Next 10, Idaho ranked 5th nationally with 3.8 percent growth. Tops nationally were Delaware, North Dakota and Montana. These latter two can be discounted now because of the shale oil bust. But not Idaho, where the April 2016 unemployment rate was 3.7 percent/John Talton, Seattle Times. More here.
