A 12-year-old injured in a rollover crash Thursday near downtown Coeur d’Alene was driving his father’s vehicle without permission, according to police.The mid-day wreck occurred on the corner of Third Street and Garden Avenue and involved one other vehicle. In AP’s delegate count, Trump surpassed the number needed to give him the nomination. That essentially closed out a raucous race on a quiet note, as a small number of unbound delegates put him over the top.

Well, it was another interesting day in the land of the wild Huckleberries Online. The speaking engagement with Leadership Coeur d'Alene was fun, especially with Super Sub Taryn Thompson tossing in more than 2 cents. Taryn will pinch hit for me Friday, while I help a family member from my wife's side move into a Coeur d'Alene Place home.

Coin toss settles adult spelling bee

The local AAUW spelling bee was settled by a coin toss, after the two best teams failed to spell their word in the 13th round. The winners? Danajo Cole, Michael Harryman and Calvin Saul of the AGC Aerocomposites team from Hayden. North Idaho Eye Institute (Dr. Alison Granier, Robin Chisholm & Marjorie Valencia) claimed 2nd place.

Spokane man caught after chase

A Spokane man who was released from jail less than a week ago led Kootenai County Sheriff’s Deputies on a high speed chase through an alfalfa field Thursday morning. A car was reported stolen near the Hayden Walmart just before 11 a.m. and deputies spotted the vehicle a few minutes later being driven west on Prairie Avenue near Atlas Road.

Districts adopt bathroom policies 

Some school districts in Idaho have quietly adopted bathroom policies for transgender students with little trouble. In Central Idaho's Blaine County School District, school officials sat down with students and parents to discuss options. School buildings there have private, unisex bathrooms that the district makes available to transgender students.

Spokane among dangerous cities?

Bloglander, the blog for the Inlander, points out some shortcomings in a Safewise survey that listed Spokane as No. 22 on the list of 30 most dangerous cities in the United States. Now, I'm not a big fan of Spokane. And I take precautions when I travel to the downtown area of the Lilac City at night. But 22nd most dangerous? Really?

Idaho gives lawyers another payday 

In his editorial this morning, Opinion Editor Marty Trillhaase of the Lewiston Tribune comments: "It's become so routine you hardly notice when a group of lawyers collects another payday because somebody affiliated with Idaho state government screwed up." Idahoans are caught between Tea Party/Liberty/Redoubt nonsense and "corporate cronyism."
