Blogos: Recycling an old VW Beetle

Here's a sight that should bring most former owners of VW Beetles almost to tears. Kootenai County Clerk Jim Brannon and a friend (unseen) spent time recently taking the top off a retractable roof of a 1962 VW Beetle that was totaled in a crash at Seltice Way and Spokane Street in Post Falls. The owner of the Beetle had read that Jim was a fan of the bugs and called to ask whether he would be interested in the retractable roof from his vintage car. The 1962 Beetle belonging to the Post Falls man had been in mint condition until another driver ran a red light and crunched "Milton." Seems VW bug drivers name their cars. Jim calls his 1963 VW Beetle "Otto." Soon, Otto will be sporting a retractable roof. First, however, we should pause for a moment of silence for Milton. (Click photo above to see three other photos of Milton as Jim & friend remove retractable roof.)
