A state senator and one of the most decorated quarterbacks in WSU history held a news conference in Seattle Monday to urge the school president to intervene in the case of suspended football player Robert Barber.

Barber has been suspended from school until July for his role in a fight off-campus over the summer.  The suspension means that his college football career is likely over and he’d have to return to school in mid-2017 to finish his degree.

The fifth-year senior has asked WSU President Kirk Schulz to review the case.

The school has hired independent counsel to conduct a review of the student conduct processes by which Barber was expelled; the expulsion was later amended to a suspension. He hasn’t been charged with a crime.

“We shouldn’t be outsourcing leadership,” state Sen. Michael Baumgartner said after the news conference/Jacob Thorpe, SR. More here.

Question: Do you support/oppose Barber's reinstatement?
