Shoutout: To snow blowers, throwers 

In her Main Street column today, Kerri Thoreson is giving a shoutout to the snow blowers & throwers who clear snow from their driveways and sidewalks, as well as their neighbors. My next-door neighbor and I take turns shoveling each other's sidewalks. But I'm jealous of the neighbors across the street who has a retiree handle their entire sidewalk.

Moscow senator to push abortion bill 24 

Dan Foreman, the new state senator from Moscow, will introduce legislation that would classify abortion as murder for women having one and doctors performing one. The sound of alarms going off in the marinas at Bayview meant it was time for Mark Streater to go to work Tuesday. It was the sound of float homes on Lake Pend Oreille tilting and sinking due to heavy snow loads. Streater and others were called upon by float home owners to shovel snow. For some reason, I have a tough time writing the Huckleberries print column at the office. It takes two times as long or more to do so when the scanners are squawking and the emails and phone calls coming in.

My 2 Cents: Did trustees overdo it? 

I'm trying to read between the lines re: "no" vote by Coeur d'Alene School Trustee Christa Hazel on the vote to float a $35.5 million bond for much-needed district building expansion. I know Christa supports these projects. But I wonder if she's worried that the bond, coupled with the $32M levy vote on the same March ballot, might doom measures.
