Boy, 11, hangs himself after fake social media posts 

Heartbreaking beyond words. CH Tysen Benz was at home when he saw social media posts indicating that his 13-year-old girlfriend had committed suicide. The posts were a prank, but the 11-year-old boy apparently believed them. Moments later, his mother found him hanging by the neck in his room in Marquette, Michigan.

Russia freezes communications with U.S. in Syria  

Russia said Friday it was cutting a hotline intended to prevent midair incidents over Syria in response to the U.S. missile attack on a Syrian base. The response that demonstrates Moscow’s readiness to defy Washington and could even put the two nuclear superpowers on a course toward military confrontation.

Former Lake City High teacher facing child sex charges 

A Coeur d’Alene high school teacher who resigned amid controversy in December is now facing child sex crime charges. Jeff Kantola, who taught at Lake City High School, is accused of committing two counts of felony lewd conduct with a child under 16, according to the Idaho State Judiciary’s data repository.

Bonner County Sheriff looking for homicide suspect

The Bonner County Sheriff’s Office is searching for homicide suspect Nathan Lane Utt, 41. Deputies were called to a home on Trestle Creek Road near Hope, Idaho, around 5 p.m. Wednesday for an unresponsive elderly women who was discovered by her husband. The woman, whose name has not been released, was dead.

Body found near Two Lakes Motel in CdA

A man’s body was found near a small pond behind the Two Lakes Motel at 320 E. Coeur d’Alene Lake Drive Thursday afternoon, according to the Coeur d’Alene Police Department. A man fishing nearby spotted the body in a lightly wooded area and called 911 just before 4 p.m. The location is just inside the Coeur d’Alene city limits
