Mixed messages 24 

The driver of a red Nissan Sentra traveling southbound on H41 toward I-90 this morning offered mixed messages. The orange, handwritten message on the back window said: "If you don't like our culture then go back to your country!!" The bumper stickers below seem to oppose that message. Can anyone decipher?

Poll: Time for Otter to move on 

Three-term Idaho Gov. C.L. "Butch" Otter may have the approval of the majority of his constituents, but the majority of them say they don't want him to run for a fourth term in 2018, according to a recent political poll. (Of course, Otter has said that he won't seek a fourth term.)

Awful officiating mars ugly game

There were plenty of things to discuss after Gonzaga's 71-65 loss to North Carolina last night. The Zags’ 14 turnovers. Or 27.6 percent shooting after halftime. Or their leaders, Nigel Williams-Goss and Przemek Karnowski, combining to shoot 6 of 25 from the floor. But the No. 1 topic of conversation was the awful officiating in the 2nd half.

North Carolina 71, Gonzaga 65 

In a hard fought game that went down to the final seconds, North Carolina emerged as champions of the NCAA Tournament by besting Gonzaga 71-65. The Bulldogs finished the season 37-2. They were stymied much of the second half by the foul trouble of their big players.

Otter mum on grocery sales tax

Gov. Butch Otter wouldn’t say today whether he’ll veto the bill to repeal Idaho’s 6 percent sales tax on groceries, but as he responded to the just-concluded legislative session, Otter focused mostly on his concerns about the state general fund and how Idaho will be able to afford to deal with significant infrastructure damage from a tough winter.
