Regan, writer fight re: Roberts rules

In an op-ed article in the Coeur d'Alene Press, Robert Hunt of Post Falls calls out local GOP Chairman Brent Regan re: his handling of debate at the July meeting involving precinct committeewoman Christa Hazel, who subsequently resigned from the committee. You can read Hunt's comments on Roberts rules here. Regan responds with an online comment:

Mr. Hunt, Thank you for your thoughtful article. Your assumption that correct parliamentary procedure was not followed is incorrect. When sitting as chairman I am flanked by the vice chair (an expert on our bylaws) and a parliamentarian, both are tasked with helping me to correctly follow procedure. The minutes show that during debate there was indeed a motion to call the question and I did ask for and receive a second. I consulted with the parliamentarian to confirm that a 2/3 vote, with no debate, was correct. I called for the vote and there was only a handful of “Nays” out of the approximately 40 committeemen present. There was no call for a recount of any type. We then voted on the main motion which also passed by a large margin. Any subsequent complaints about procedural irregularities are not supported by the facts.
