Double-lane roundabout coming soon

The remake of Seltice Way in Coeur d'Alene will include two roundabouts: One at the intersection of Atlas and the other at the Grand Mill intersection. The roundabout at Atlas will have double lanes.

"It will be the first two-lane roundabout for the area. It will take some getting used to," Matt Gillis of Welch-Comer told Coeur d'Alene's urban renewal agency on Thursday.

Gillis and co-workers spent a day in Olympia, touring two-lane roundabouts in the city to get ideas for the local design. "We're a bunch of engineers watching the cars go round and round," Gillis told urban renewal agency members. A contract for the work is expected to be awarded in March, with the work to begin as soon as possible for a 2018 completion/Becky Kramer, SR..
