Malek, Amador set townhall meeting

After learning that state Reps. Luke Malek and Paul Amador, both R-CdA, were staging a town hall meeting (10:30-12:30 at the Coeur d'Alene Library Saturday), Huckleberries asked Paul if he's nervous re: an encounter with constituents. Here's his answer:

"I was elected to represent and serve the people of District 4 and Idaho, I take that role seriously and welcome a healthy discussion with anyone concerned about our community and great State. I respect the right of all individuals to express their first amendment rights and the ability to peacefully organize and protest – it is part of our democratic process and one reason why our country is so respected. My expectation is that inside the forum we will have a healthy and respectful conversation about the issues we are facing in the State Legislature. So, no, I am not concerned about possible protests. Also, we did hear back that Sen. Souza is not going to be able to join us on Saturday."

Good for Luke and Paul. Huckleberries also asked if state Sen. Mary Souza, R-CdA, had been invited to join the two Coeur d'Alene representatives at the townhall event. She was invited. But declined the invitation. Luke and Paul put the townhall together at the last minute. So it's probable that Sen. Souza had other things scheduled.
