Ringo: Scott’s comments are ‘absurd’

Shirley Ringo, a former math teacher and long-time Democratic legislator from Latah County, didn't mince words in a Facebook post re: comments made by state Rep. Heather Scott re: other female legislators:

Shawn Keough, Patti Anne Lodge, Judy Boyle, Maxine Bell, Julie Van Orden, Christy Perry … When Representative Heather Scott suggested that a woman who wishes to become chair of a policy committee in Idaho’s Legislature must be willing to “spread her legs,” these are the women she insulted. During my years in the legislature, I had the opportunity to know these women. Scott’s comments are absurd. According to Representative Perry, Scott has also damaged the capitol buildin...g while seeking evidence that her office has been “bugged.”

It’s no wonder that Heather Scott has been disciplined by Speaker of the House, Scott Bedke. Her suggestions that committee chair positions are given in exchange for sexual favors not only are directed at the women who are committee chairs, but also at those in leadership positions who would apparently seek these favors. Bedke chose to remove her from committees to which she has been assigned, thereby severely limiting her capacity to serve constituents.

Today five representatives, in support of Scott, have asked to be removed from their committee assignments until Scott’s position on her own committees is restored. In view of her paranoid and irrational behavior, these individuals might better express their fondness for Scott by urging her to get medical help. (Photo of Shirley Ringo)

Question: Agree/disagree with former legislator Ringo?
