Mrs O and I have been busy this past month, as I mentioned in the Wild Card. First, we flew to a family wedding in central California. Then, more than a week ago, we flew to Gainesville, Fla., for the graduation of my son, Seth, from the University of Florida Department of Neurosurgery. On Saturday, June 17, Seth completed seven years of residency training to become a full-fledged brain surgeon. He has spent the last 15 years in research or medical training (8 at the University of Colorado Denver in the MD/PhD program and the last 7 in Florida). You can imagine how long we've waited for his UFlorida graduation. Seth graduated from Coeur d'Alene High in 1997 and then from Linfield College of McMinnville, Ore., in 2001. Today, he and his wife, Stephanie, and their two dogs are in the middle of a cross country drive in their pickup for a neurosurgery job in Portland, Ore. It's nice to get him back on this side of the country again.
