Weekend Wild Card — 3.18.17

I was surprised that the Coeur d'Alene School Board, once the focus of a fierce battle between ultra-conservatives and moderates in this community, will have only one contested race this spring. Incumbents Dave Eubanks and Tom Hearn will return to do their good work for another four years (even if an unexpected write-in candidate should arise). Lisa May, chairwoman of the Long Range Planning Committee, will be a favorite to win the seat now held by Christa Manis. Huckleberries hears that Christa either has -- or will -- endorse Lisa. Lisa can't take her little-known challenger for granted. But it appears that the school elections will be melodramatic. And we can start focusing on the municipal elections in November, when the seats now held by Mayor Steve Widmyer and council members Kiki Miller, Amy Evans and Woody McEvers will be up for election. I'm fairly sure Steve & Woody will run again. But I'll have to check with Amy and Kiki. Here's your Wild Card ...
