I'm not sure where photographer Don Sausser snapped this photo. I suspect it was in the Independence Point area since Don's eye in the sky overlooks that portion of north shore real estate. Obviously, the recent flooding has provided us with some interesting flotsam on Lake Coeur d'Alene this year.
Candidate John Rubert withdrew from his race against Lisa May in the Coeur d'Alene School Board Zone 1 race this afternoon. County Clerk Jim Brannon told Huckleberries that Rubert withdrew Friday. His decision to withdraw means that May is the only candidate for the seat now held by Trustee Christa Hazel.

The Kootenai County Board of Commissioners have announced the hiring of Steve Kjergaard to direct the Coeur d'Alene Airport in Hayden. Kjergaard has spent last six years as director of the Sloulin Field International Airport in Williston, N.D. He replaces Greg Delevan.
The inmate population at the Kootenai County Jail set a record over the weekend, as 439 prisoners were incarcerated, including nearly 80% (342) on felony charges. The jail is designed to accommodate 327 beds. The number of female inmates also set a record this weekend, with 105 in custody Sunday morning.
