The Coeur d'Alene Press reports: Bonsai Bistro on Sherman Avenue has closed it doors, and they will remain shuttered. “We just took a look at several factors and felt it was in our best interest to do this,” said Jerry Jaeger, president of Hagadone Hospitality Co.

My house needs a new roof. So I began calling around to see who could handle the project, starting with one of the most respected roofing companies in the area. The woman who answered the phone for the company was nice. But said that roofers are slammed this year, fixing roofs from the wind storm.

Twin Falls opts for neighborliness again

Twin Falls’ City Council has passed a resolution declaring the city a “neighborly community.” The vote was 5-2, with Vice Mayor Suzanne Hawkins and Councilwoman Nikki Boyd against. The troubled town affirmed its role as a welcoming city rather than adopt policies defying U.S. immigration officials.

Scott Reed, the Coeur d'Alene attorney and environmental activist who worked with Art Manley and others to save Tubbs Hill for the public, died two years ago May 2. Three days later, Tom Wobker, The Bard of Sherman Avenue, eulogized him in 12 succinct and dead-on words.

Trump renominates Nye for fed judge

President Donald Trump on Monday renominated Judge David Nye to fill Idaho’s long-vacant second U.S. District judge position. Nye was among 10 judicial nominees Trump named Monday; he’s one of two on the list who already was nominated for the post by former President Barack Obama, and received unanimous support in the Senate Judiciary Committee.
