43rdSB: UI Law School Not To Blame

At 43rd State Blues, Sisyphus addresses the flap between the Idaho Legislature and the UI Law School re: attendance at a diversity training course: “Dean Burnett's response letter is a model of diplomacy providing a rational and informative response to powerful and vindictive law makers with control over funding for Idaho's only College of Law. Unfortunately the lazy media reports have a totally different characterization, that Dean Burnett was justifiably called on the carpet for heavy handed tactics designed to impugn the reputation of the students, when just the opposite is true. Dean Burnett was endeavoring to save the school the embarrassment of losing accreditation because a few students made discriminatory, prejudicial or comments evincing bias, to the accreditation committee.” More here.

Question: Who was at fault in the flap between the Legislature and the UI Law School?

43rdSB: Foster Backing Luna Reform?

The referendum on Students Comes First will take place on the date of the general election, the first Tuesday of November, 2012. Word on the street is that John Foster has been tapped to lead the political efforts for Republicans against the initiatives, and in favor of leaving intact the draconian education reform legislation. John Foster is the former executive director of the Idaho Democratic Party. Foster is most notorious for his role as a staffer for Idaho's blue dog Congressman Walt Minnick, and leading Minnick's 2010 re-election campaign to an ignoble defeat. Since then, Foster has headed the office for a lobbying group./Sisyphus, 43rd State Blues. More here.

High Noon: Raptors Not Rapture

On his Facebook page, Serephin, of 43rd State Blues renown, writes of the Judgment Day (6 p.m. Saturday liftoff time) perdiction by a fringe religious group: “Oooohh, bad news, Pre-tribulationalists. Jesus' press release just hit the wires, and it turns out that it's not Rapture, it's raptors. Heaven, Inc. is sending an army of fast, voracious dinosaurs to Earth to chase down and eat all those who claim to love Christ but behave like, well, most Republicans. The press release also states that if you want the velociraptors to finish you off quickly, it's recommended to bathe the night before in teriyaki sauce — apparently, they're crazy for the flavor.” (Illustration from Sisyphus' Facebook wall)

Question: Do you believe the Christian Rapture will literally occur? And/or: Do you think you'll taste like chicken to a velociraptor?

43rdSB: Popkey Connects Luna Dots

Popkey's promised story is published, fleshing out the details in the concerted effort, for most of a decade of private, profit driven corporations gradually taking over the public education system in Idaho. The article expands the cast of characters of wealthy ideologically right wing players, including, Fox magnate Rupert Murdoch, junk bond felon Michael Milkin, the hypocrite Bill Bennett, and the son of disgraced Idaho Congressman George Hansen. In so doing Popkey connects the dots from the money to Luna and his education deform package/Sisyphus, 43rd State Blues. More here.

43SB: Send Message To Race Pickets

Last week, white supremacists associated with the Aryan Nations decided to picket two Mexican restaurants in Coeur d'Alene with signs which encouraged passerby's to “Honk if you want Idaho White.” The organizer, Shaun Winkler, is an odious little toadie well known to the Southern Poverty Law Center. He opted to join the ever popular Phelps family when they protested against teh gay last October in Coeur d'Alene. Now I dunno why Winkler decided to target Messicans with his hate. Perhaps Winkler was encouraged from the open hostility shown Hispanics by one of the local Republican parties who objected to the word “Fiesta” used by the Bonner County Fair committee during the contentious debate surrounding Arizona's race baiting immigration reform attempt. Maybe it was the thinly veiled dog whistle race baiting ads in our last congressional election/Sisyphus, 43rd State Blues. More here.

Question: Sisyphus goes on to encourage his readers to support the two Mexican food stands picketed by racists last week. Or similar ones in the Boise area. Which Mexican food stand in Coeur d'Alene is best?

Sis: Idaho’s Most Notorious Export

Hard to fathom that someone is giving Larry Craig a challenge as undisputed champion, but the Village National Idiot has launched himself, and the American Family Association (AFA), the social conservative organization Bryan Fischer was selected to represent, into notorious territory by its addition as a “hate group” by the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC). As the watchdog organization instrumental in taking down the Aryan Nations compound in northern Idaho, the SPLC now lists the AFA, along with the Family Research Council (FRC) in the same category as the KKK and the Aryan Nations, which unfortunately is still active in Idaho. Their leader just last year described Obama’s election as “the greatest recruiting tool ever”/Sisyphus, 43rd State Blues. More here.

Question: Do you agree with the listing of the American Family Association and the Family Research Council as hate groups by the Southern Poverty Law Center?

43rdSB: Groped Against Your Will

This is finally IT, maybe. If we turn down being screened at airports by those new-fangled, incredibly invasive, nakey-nakey devices, then we must submit to a groping…where they fondle your bewbies and/or your junk. Submitting to a groping by somebody who’s not getting me drunk first…not gonna happen. And neither is going through a freaky skin sizzling machine. Thing is, some people (survivors of sexual assault) are getting PTSD reactions to the forced probings, because, you know, they’re FORCED PROBINGS. And some idiots out there actually have the gall to say, “Those people need to stop being so sensitive about the probings”/Cassandra, 43rd State Blues. More here.

Sis: We’d Rather Go Down Swinging

Democrats running against the Democratic party is a shortsighted losing strategy which enables the destruction of the Democratic brand in Idaho leaving us little to work with in the next cycle. … When all the Democratic candidates do it, as all three top tier candidates did, people just stay home. And in addition to being dead wrong, poobahs telling the media after an election that there was nothing to be done, ignores the consequences of that pronouncement. That self serving excuse demoralizes volunteers and tells funding sources not to bother next time we come a knocking, not to mention throwing a bucket of cold water on future candidate recruitment. Most Democrats would rather go down swinging, standing up for who we are, whether right or left, but as proud Democrats, with pragmatic and successful solutions, not self contradicting platitudes/Sisyphus, 43rd State Blues. More here.

Question: Which strategy is better in Idaho — to run as a Democrat against the Democrat Party, and occasionally win as Minnick did 2 years ago — or to run as a Democrat and lose?

43rdSB: Celebrate Bonner County Fair

At 43rd State Blues, photoshopper Serephin provides this “poster” for a Bonner County Republican version of the county fair. Here’s his wording: Idaho, where our motto is ‘Making Alabama Look More Appealing All The Time,’ finds a new way to embarrass itself thanks to the Bonner County Republicans. NOTE: All vendors must substitute Mexican food with cuisine from either Belgium or Denmark. Pølsevogn on a stick or herring tacos is fine/Serenphin, 43rd State Blues.

Question: A bit over the top?

Sisyphus: Don’t Let The Door …

As we work to try and clean up this mess at least we can take solace that this ideological phase of our long national nightmare is over. Bush’s policies have drained the treasury, destroyed our credit, commenced the demise of Pax Americana, sullied America’s ethics and values into an unwelcome pool of disrepute, and heralded the most severe world wide economic collapse in modern times. In so doing Bush rends assunder just about every conservative principle that first got him elected, including the eschewing of a conservative mutilateral foreign policy for a radical unilateral one leaving the United States virtually alone and vulnerable/Sisyphus, 43rd State Blues. More here.

Question: Do you consider George Bush to be a conservative?

Sisyphus: Idaho’s Answer To Drudge

And tool could be accurate. Loaded and slanted questions, daily WND posts, Cramerica, he’s Idaho’s answer to Drudge. I thought he was going to ah, um, a, blow a load when McCain picked Palin and then when we had the audacity to point to her embarrassment of deficiencies he got downright defensive. Remember he started it as a pro-Bush site. I give him credit for allowing the likes of us and expect him to always look for a reason not to. As you well know. I miss you up there and have advocated for your release. Glib too. I still haven’t figured out the basis of your coolerization.

DFO:  At 43rd State Blues, Sisyphus responded (above) to a comment by potty-mouth BinkyBoy, who got tossed from here last fall when he overheated more than usual. Seems Sis & Binky are upset that I post Idaho Values Alliance comments on my Web site. I try to represent all points of view here. The IVA is one of those points of few. Nothing More. And I thought Sis liked me.

Question: What do you think of the Idaho Values Alliance posts?
