Here's yet another indication that summer's on the way in viewtiful Coeur d'Alene: Chris Guggemos of Handshake Productions has released his summer lineup for City Park, beginning Sunday, June 30. Stagecoach West, a classic rock-'n-roll band from eastern Washington, will launch the concert series on June 30, following the next Sunday by Barry Aiken & North Point, a Latin Rhythms/Salsa band, the next Sunday. You can see Chris's entire schedule here. (This link will also take you to concert schedules for Tuesdays in downtown Coeur d'Alene; Wednesdays in Hayden City Park; and Fridays at Rathdrum City Park. The Coeur d'Alene Arts Association has yet to set its schedule for Riverstone Park, on Thursday evenings.
Question: I attended as many as three of these concerts in a given week. How many do you attend?
Kosh Shioya and DFO during a break in sets at the final appearance of local fave band Motorboat at City Park last Sunday. Steve Bickel's leaving the band and Coeur d'Alene for greener fields at the chamber of commerce in former hometown of Huntington Beach, Calif. Kosh participates in other local bands. H/T to Kosh & Motorboat for performing my favorite song of theirs upon my request, Israel Kmakawiwo'ole's version of “Somewhere Over the Rainbow.” You can visit Kosh's site to hear his music & see a list of performance dates here. Meanwhile, Chris Guggemos of Handshake Productions will resume his summer series at City Park Sunday, July 1, with country-rock band, County Line. You can see the full schedule here. Handshake Productions concert series at Fort Sherman Square in downtown Coeur d'Alene begins Tuesday, June 26, here.
Question: How often do you attend the free concert series at City Park, Fort Sherman Park, Hayden City Park & Rathdrum, presented by Chris Guggemos' Handshake Productions? How about the concert series at Riverstone Park?
Chris Guggemos, the mastermind behind Handshake Productions, which provides free musical entertainment at 4 different Kootenai County venues through the summer, is shown on CdANightOut’s Facebook page at a Tuesday concert in Sherman Park Square (4th & Sherman). Guggemos, Stickman, & Walkabout are among the local residents who add so much to our lives in viewtiful Coeur d’Alene by providing music, sticks, & picking up trash on Tubbs Hill.
Question: Do you know someone who would fall into the same category as the three mentioned above, who add to the life of this community in an unusual, unsung way?
I can’t say that it’s been so busy that I look forward to hanging out with Mrs. O at Sherman Park tonight for the first of the free downtown concert this afternoon/evening. But it has been busy enough. And I’m definitely looking foward to the music and mood downtown. I don’t have a clue re: the music that Healthy Scratches plays. I do know, however, that Chris Guggemos’ Handshake Productions usually books good shows to its various venues.
Question: Do you attend any of the Handshake Productions concerts in City Park, Sherman Square, Hayden, or Rathdrum, or the Riverbend concerts on Thursdays?
At ilovecda.com, Blogmistress provides a calendar of all of the free concerts scheduled at Coeur d’Alene’s City Park (Sunday afternoons), Sherman Square (Tuesday evenings), and Hayden City Park (Wednesday evenings) by Chris Guggemos’s Handshake Productions this summer. You can see the schedule here. Now, if someone can find out when the free concerts start at Riverstone Park, my summer schedule will be set.
HBO Numbers (for Thursday, June 17): 8956 page-views/5374 unique views
Chris Guggemos/Handshake Productions will kick off the 16th season of his popular Coeur d’Alene City Park Concert Series this Sunday w/Ben “Preslee” Klein and the Rockabillies, a favorite for Elvis Presley fans. You can read which bands Chris has lined up and when they’re scheduled to play here. Writes Orange TV on Facebook re: the City Park concert series: “I can hear these concerts happening clear as a radio station from my back yard. That’s kind of a good/bad thing depending on who’s playing.” My wife and I attend most of the park concerts. Ditto for the free outdoor concerts at Sherman Avenue Square and Riverbend.
Question: Do you attend any of the free outdoor concerts around Coeur d’Alene, Hayden, and Rathdrum during the summer?
