IVA: Set Minimum Sentences For Pervs

In a truly bipartisan effort which the IVA wholeheartedly supports, two Republican and one Democrat lawmaker are coming together to work on legislation to provide, for the first time in Idaho law, mandatory minimum sentences for those who commit sex crimes against children. Many people are unaware that in Idaho an offender has to commit two sex crimes against children before the law mandates a minimum time behind bars. This loophole - all in the name of giving judges “discretion” in sentencing - resulted in a 150-day sentence for Bradley Stowell, a man who abused two teenage boys at a Boy Scout camp and admitted molesting 24 other victims, one as young as six. Yes, you read that right - 150 days for molesting two dozen children/Bryan Fischer, Idaho Values Alliance. More here.
Question: Do you support mandatory minimum sentences for child molesters?

IVA: Death Penalty Growth Industry

Kevin Richert of the Idaho Statesman complains that Gov. Otter’s proposed 2009-2010 budget creates three new full-time attorneys in the public defender’s office, the agency responsible to defend death-row inmates. He claims this has turned capital punishment into a “growth industry” in Idaho, even though Idaho has executed only one criminal in the last 50 plus years. But there is a connection between an increase in public defenders and a decrease in executions, and the connection is out-of-control judicial activism. Taxpayer-funded public defenders are nowhere required in the Constitution, and have been imposed on a compliant and meek public only by activist judges/Bryan Fischer, IVA. More here.

Question: Do you agree as Bryan Fischer does that judicial activism has created a “growth industry of capital punishment”?

Idaho Blogs — 1/9/09

Kudos to Idaho Attorney General Lawrence Wasden for his decision to join with the attorneys general from all 50 states to express their united support – regardless of party affiliation – for the time-honored practice of invocations at presidential inaugurations/IVA. IVA: PP Staffer Implicated In Incest Coverup

Julia Piercey serves as the Director of Education and Training for Boise’s Planned Parenthood affiliate. What ought to be a concern to all Idaho parents is that Ms. Piercey served in the same role with a Planned Parenthood affiliate in Ohio, and was named as a defendant in civil suit alleging that the Planned Parenthood staff under Ms. Piercey’s direction and supervision broke state law by refusing to report the sexual abuse of 16-year-old Denise Fairbanks at the hands of her own father. Although the suit was dismissed earlier this year, it will be refiled this month/Bryan Fischer, IVA. More here.

Question: Has the Idaho Values Alliance raised an issue here that should concern Idaho parents?

IVA: Warren Will Test Multiculturalists

Item: Tyrants of tolerance go after Obama, Rick Warren: Voices of tolerance, diversity, multiculturalism come unglued/Bryan Fischer, Idaho Values Alliance

More Info: Obama’s criminal offense is that, in a move that ought be celebrated by all who claim that America’s strength is found in its embrace of diversity, he picked an evangelical pastor who supports natural marriage and the sanctity of life to deliver the invocation at his inauguration.  Rick Warren of Saddleback Church has been tabbed for the task, despite the fact he openly supported Prop. 8, which elevated protection for one-man, one-woman marriage into the California constitution.

Question: What kind of reception will Evangelical Pastor Rick Warren get when he presents the invocation at Barack Obama’s inaugaration?

IVA Declares War-On-Xmas Win

Two weeks ago, “Christmas” was virtually absent at Costco’s website and stores. But thanks to the volume of emails and complaints the cRight-click here to download pictures. To help protect your privacy, Outlook prevented automatic download of this picture from the Internet. ompany received when the American Family Association exposed their holiday purge, receptionists now answer the phone at corporate headquarters with “Merry Christmas,” and Christmas is now featured on their website and email promotions. Boise’s Costco has a banner announcing the sale of “Christmas” trees at its front entrance, and although “holiday” shows up much more frequently than “Christmas” on merchandise displays inside the store, the store has an entire retail island devoted to paintings of Jesus Christ. So I suppose we can cut them some slack over their “holiday” cards/Bryan Fischer , Idaho Values Alliance. More here .

Question: Are you celebrating Costco’s change of mind, too?
