Big Sky Tebow Appearance Stirs Buzz

Phones are ringing off the hook at Stillwater Christian School. The Kalispell private school announced Tuesday afternoon that Denver Broncos quarterback Tim Tebow will be the featured speaker at Stillwater Christian's community banquet March 7. Since then, calls have been pouring in from people wanting tickets. “I think this is the longest stretch without the phone ringing right now,” Director of Development Craig Hunnicutt said in a phone interview Wednesday morning. “It's been about 30 seconds.” Many of those calls have been from people outside the Kalispell area, he said. And nearly all have been from people ecstatic to hear the pro quarterback and Heisman Trophy winner is making a stop in the Flathead Valley/Kristi Albertson, Daily Inter Lake. More here. More Info: Two recent incidents involving Glacier High School students resulted in a total of seven suspensions, according to Kalispell Public Schools Superintendent Darlene Schottle. One of the incidents involved several members of the school’s ninth-grade football team. “It was determined that in a freshmen football bus on the way home from a game there were some students involved in some harrassment/bullying/intimidation-type of action,” Schottle said Wednesday.

Montana School Bans Dirty Dancin’

Starting with the Nov. 12 Sadie Hawkins dance, the high school will enforce new dancing expectations. While Glacier always has had a policy forbidding “lewd conduct” at school, on buses or at school-sponsored events — including dances — the new rules are much more explicit. The new expectations are outlined in a draft Principal Callie Langohr sent out earlier this month. “Vulgar/provocative dancing, such as grinding, will not be allowed, nor any form of dance which is sexually suggestive or mimics sexual acts. Students must be facing one another when dancing and must keep some space between one another, with appropriate hand placements,” the draft says/Kristi Albertson, Daily Inter Lake. More here. Hagadone Montana Reporters Missing

A search for a missing aircraft that was carrying two Daily Inter Lake staff writers and two men from Missoula shifted sharply late Monday from the Flathead Valley area to Sanders County and the National Bison Range. A command post for the search was set up Monday night at the National Bison Range Visitor Center, far from the original search area that extended from Kalispell as far as Glacier National Park and Canada. The plane had been missing since Sunday afternoon. … On board were Melissa Weaver (pictured), 23, a police and courts reporter with the Inter Lake, and Erika Hoefer, 27, a business reporter and page designer who also writes for the Flathead Business Journal.
