Tornado reported in Western Washington

SEATTLE — The National Weather Service confirms the winds that damaged industrial buildings in western Washington, including a Boeing factory, were a tornado.

Meteorologist Johnny Burg says a team from the Weather Service office in Seattle went to the scene Monday and certified the tornado, based on eyewitness accounts.

The tornado at 7:20 a.m. tore a hole in the roof of the Northwest Door factory at Frederickson, halting production of garage doors.

The tornado also caused minor damage to the nearby Boeing factory and cars in the parking lot. Boeing says work has resumed.

The winds topped a weekend of record rains from a wintry storm in the Northwest.

Obama To Visit Tornado Hit South

Rescuers in the tornado-ravaged South searched through debris for survivors and bodies on Friday ahead of a visit by President Barack Obama to the state worst hit by the disaster that killed 310 people. Obama will view the destruction in Alabama, the hardest hit of seven states that were blasted this week by twisters and violent storms that flattened whole neighborhoods in the worst U.S. natural catastrophe since Hurricane Katrina in 2005. In Alabama alone, 210 people lost their lives. Obama and his family were due to visit the university town of Tuscaloosa, which was savaged by a monster tornado on WednesdayVerna Gates, Reuters. Question: Do you have friends or relatives who were in the path of the twisters?
