What Do You Say To A Nudist?

On her Twitter account, Jamie Lynn Morgan, the Coeur d'Alene social-media wunderkind, tweets: “Just scheduled a meeting at the Sun Meadows Nudist Resort near Worley ID next week. There will be no photos and I will be wearing clothes.”

Question: What question would you ask one of the Worley nudists, if you were in Jamie's shoes next week?

Hanging Out Nude At Worley Resort

A mountain of a man in combat boots is perched at the wheel of a golf cart. Thick black hair swirls across his arms, chest and wraps around his back, making his big toothy smile seem bigger — almost brighter — in the sunlight. Aside from the boots, he’s buck naked. In a flash, wandering eyes can judge whether he’s circumcised (he is), carries a spare tire around his middle (he does), prefers to shave his genitals (he does not), or if he’s wearing a wedding ring (nope). But here, well-aside from marital status, none of that really matters. “We’ve got all shapes and sizes of construction workers, farmers, bankers, attorneys, doctors and lawyers,” says Kathy Smith, 62, discussing the membership at Sun Meadow Nudist Resort in Worley, Idaho. “We’ve got everyone from newborns up to people in their 90s”/Jordy Byrd, Inlander. More here. (Inlander photo/Amy Hunter: “Aprons are allowed for the cooks in the kitchen at Sun Meadow Resort.”)

Question: Have you ever thought of becoming a nudist?

Living With ‘The Bare Necessities’

On The Mouse That Roars blog, North Idaho resident Patrice Lewis discusses what it’s like to live a coupla miles from the nudist Sun Meadow Resort, near Worley. She includes a tongue-in-cheek observation that North Idaho nudist must be heartier than most of their peers, given the weather here in all but the midsummer. And this: “Our local parcel delivery guy, a friendly chatty fellow, makes frequent deliveries to the nudist resort, and boy howdy does he have some stories to tell.  And one of those stories is: if your vision of a nudist colony is a collection of gorgeous, toned, six-pack-abs kinda people, think again. But if this newspaper article is to be believed, that’s the whole point of a nudist resort.  It doesn’t matter what you look like.  It is – quite literally – the great equalizer.  And I guess therein lies the appeal.” More here.

Question: So what vision do you have of a nudist colony — “gorgeous, toned, six-pack-abs kinda people”? Or ordinary flabby ones that you wouldn’t want to see in a fitness club lockerroom?

Worley Cafe Hit w/Racist Graffiti

Peter Ohm, an Asian-American who has owned the Homestead Drive Inn in Worley for the last 5 years, is considering moving to southern California after his business was hit with racist graffiti earlier this month. According to Othello Richards of KREM2, Ohm’s “latest experience has left a bad taste in his mouth. That’s because someone wrote words like ‘dirty Jap’, ‘dog eater’, ‘fish face’ and ‘sell out’ on his restaurant last week.  He says he was embarrassed by it and covered it up. You can read more about the story and watch Richards’ KREM2 video report here.

Worley Resort To Host Nudist Confab

Item: Worley’s Sun Meadows Resort to host national nudist convention/Coeur d’Alene Press

More Info: “I don’t think it will hurt (the local economy),” (Sun Meadow Resort owner Mike Capshaw) said. Besides workshops on health and fitness, the convention will also include volleyball tournaments, yoga and water aerobics. Inappropriate behavior isn’t allowed, he said. “We tell people, if it won’t fly in a mall, it won’t fly here,” Capshaw said.

Question: Anyone in the Hux blogosphere going to attend?

Spark Ignites Fireworks In Worley Stand

Worley residents got a free impromptu fireworks display tonight after a child ignited a firework that caused a fireworks stand to go up in flames. The fire, which started about 8 p.m., burned two vehicles and caused Highway 95 to shut down for a short time, authorities said. According to a Coeur d’Alene Tribal spokesman, a minor was playing with fireworks near Adeline’s Smoke Shop, near the old Worley Fire Station, when one firework accidentally shot into the stand causing the building to ignite along with the fireworks inside. The stand burned to the ground, and two vehicles parked nearby were destroyed, authorities said. The highway was shut down for safety reasons. No one was hurt/Spokesman-Review. Question: Do you ever go to the Coeur d’Alene Indian Reservation to buy illegal fireworks? And/or: How much do you spend on fireworks each year?

Casino upgrade to add 100 jobs

Construction continues at the Coeur d’Alene Casino Resort Hotel near Worley on Wednesday

The Coeur d’Alene Tribe decided more than two years ago it wanted its casino and hotel, near Worley, to be known as one of the region’s destination resorts.

It already had a widely prized golf course and a lucrative casino.

The next step was for the tribe’s business managers to commit to spending roughly $75 million to upgrade the accommodations at its Coeur d’Alene Casino.

Last year it started work on the expansion, which will give the hotel more rooms and give guests more recreation and dining choices. Tom Sowa, SR. More.

I’ve never been to the Cda Casino, have you?
