World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series Heads To Texas

World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series At a Glance: Lone Star Speedway & Houston Raceway
Park highlight weekend stops.

WHAT
• A return to the state of Texas is up next for the World of Outlaws beginning on
Friday, April 10 at Lone Star Speedway in Kilgore, followed by a visit to Houston
Raceway Park in Baytown on Saturday, April 11 for the Texas Shootout. It will mark
the series first event at Lone Star Speedway since 2004 and first stop at Houston
Raceway Park since 2007. Donny Schatz, the three-time and defending series champion
has won the last two events at Houston Raceway Park, while 20-time series champion
Steve Kinser, has been victorious in the last two World of Outlaws races at Lone
Star Speedway. The pair is separated by just 11 points at the top of the series
championship standings entering this weekend’s events with Schatz in the lead.
WHEN
• On Friday April 10 at Lone Star Speedway, the pit gates will open at 2 p.m.
Central, with the grandstand gates opening at 4 p.m. Central and hot laps are set
for 7:30 p.m.  Central.

• On Saturday, April 11 at Houston Raceway Park, the pit gates will open at 2 p.m.
Central, with the grandstand gates opening at 4 p.m. Central with hot laps set for 6
p.m.  Central and racing at 7:30 p.m. Central.


WHERE
• Lone Star Speedway is located in Kilgore, Texas. Take I-20 to exit 583 (at Liberty
City), then 0.5 mi. north on Hwy. 135, then 1 mi. east on FM 1252, then 0.5 miles
south (track is on the right).

• Houston Raceway Park is located in Baytown, Texas. From Houston: Take Interstate
10 east towards Beaumont. Take the Hwy. 146 exit which is exit #797. Take a right on
Hwy. 146 and go to the second stop light which is FM 565. Take a left on FM 565 and
Houston Raceway Park will be on the left side about 3 miles.

• Lone Star Speedway is a high-banked 1/2-mile oval. The track record of 13.05
seconds was established by Danny Lasoski on April 4, 2002.

• Houston Raceway Park is a high-banked 1/4-mile oval. The track record of 11.996
seconds was established by Joey Saldana on March 16, 2007.
