Marysville, WA (April 27, 2009): The newly formed iRacing.com American Speed Association Northwest Late Model Tour is geared up for the grand opening of the newly purchased Spokane County Raceway. On May 9, 2009 history will be made.

It will be the first visit for the series to the fabled facility.

Locally known as 'on the hill', the multi use facility has been in operation for many years until recently.  Financial trouble forced a receivership auction. The county was the winning bidder. Spokane County knew what racing brought to the area and vowed to save the multi use facility.

The tour is a formulation of two former traveling series. The 10-year old ARCA West Late Model Challenge Series and 25-year old former NASCAR Northwest Tour have come together to be the only Super Late Model touring series in the Northwest.

The LMCS has raced at the former Spokane Raceway Park in recent years while the NWT has not been there in over 20-years.

Tour Competition Director Jerry Losch stated, "It is an honor to be the opening event at what is to become a major racing mecca in the Northwest."

The series will bring to the Spokane area the best stock car driver in the northwest. The entry list is growing daily with names like Lewis, Harding, Rhodes, Stanwood, Schultz, Richards and Thompson. There will be those that have had the opportunity to race on the .500-mile oval and many that will be seeing it for the first time.

A Friday May 8 evening practice will kick start the weekend. Saturday May 9 the activities get underway at 5:00pm with qualifying followed at 7:00pm with racing. The feature of the night will be a 125-lap main for the Super Late Models. The new local divisions Cops & Robbers and Hobby Stocks will add to the grand opening.

The new era in racing for both the Spokane area and Northwest Super Late Model Stock Car touring series begins on Saturday May 9, 2009.
