5th Annual August Revolution Thrills Montana Raceway Park Fans

The Rolling Thunder Big Rigs with their 18-sec. laps times in semi-truck racing trim thrilled the capacity crowd at Montana Raceway Park's 5th Annual August Revolution.

For Immediate Release: Montana Raceway Park

KALISPELL, Mont. (August 1, 2009)-Race fans were on their feet all night with the thrills and spills of the Rolling Thunder Big Rigs, JB Water & Vacuum Service SuperTruck Racing Series, the Westward Bound Construction/Keller Williams Flathead Legends and the Thunder Roadsters completed over 175 laps of total racing in the 5th Annual August Revolution.

The Big Rigs create the best racing action of the evening turning sub-18-sec. lap times in their 40-lap main event. With only five caution laps during the event Mike Gibbons and Jeff Swanstrom traded the lead back and forth over the final 10 laps then went nose to tail in the last three laps with the fans on their feet. Swanstrom bested Gibbons by .97-seconds at the checkered flag with Brian Wilson rounding out the top-3 running order.

Wade Lee and Jamie McClennon came into the 75-lap SuperTruck main event battling for the points lead in the chase for the 2009 championship. Lee moved quickly to the front while McClennon had to work through lapped traffic late and could reel in his rival to fall just short at the checkered flag.

Craig Beaubien ran a smooth race all evening long for a third place finish with Larry Cramer, who recovered from a 15th place restart to finish fourth and Gary Miller rounding out the top-5.

At 15-years old Jake Bissett is quickly showing the skill of a veteran driver as he picked up another Legends main event victory-this time a 35-lap affair- to move within 10 points of points leader Scott Dalla for the 2009 division championship.

Dalla spun early in the race and was forced to restart 15th but recovered for a seventh place finish, however, Wrango West (2nd place), Brandon Sickler (3rd), Tyler Corpron (4th) Joe Bissett all had solid points nights to tighten the championship standings. West came into the evening just nine markers back of Bissett for second place overall and moved within four at the close of racing with three races remaining in the season.

With Scott Lee attending his wedding late model driver Alex Lessor jumped into a Thunder Roadster for the first time in 2009 and made Lee and new bride Stacy proud with a dominant win in the 25-lap main event. Another late model regular, Micah Sampson, jumped at the chance to drive Dalla’s Thunder Roadster and made the most of his opportunity with a runner-up finish.

Tyler Corpron, Zach Havens and Joe Rohrman rounded out the top-5.

Saturday, August 8 Montana Raceway Park hosts the debut of the Red Bull/Triple W Equipment Flathead Valley 75 for Limited Late Models. In what is anticipated to be an annual event on the high-bank oval, drivers from across the Pacific Northwest and Southern Canada will battle for over $10,000 in prize money. Already pre-entered for the event is the late model points leader at Spokane County Raceway, Dan Garber, the points leader of the Limited Late Model Racing Series, Chris Walters, Montana Raceway Park’s Limited Sportsman points leader, Jason Robinson and ICAR’s fourth and fifth place drivers in the chase for that division’s championship-Kirk Hennefer and Russ Osborne.
