Mid-Season Championships Heat Up Ephrata Raceway Park

 (The Spokesman-Review)
(The Spokesman-Review)

The NSRA was a loud and fast 50 lapper with Jeff Montgomery leading most of the race, which was crazy with 22 cars in the way!  Matt Hein used all that traffic to his advantage and led the last few laps to victory.

Yes it was hot Saturday night at ERP, but with 22 NSRA Winged Sprint Cars getting
ready to run, the place was buzzing with excitement!  Also racing were the Kim Janke
State Farm Agent Youth Hornets, the Schaeffer Oil Mini Stocks and the wild and crazy
Big Cars boat race that ended up being wilder than ever!  After the Youth Hornets
did their qualifing grand prix style all at once, the Mini's and NSRA took their
shot and here's who ran the quickest:

Mini- #96 Austin Schooler, Ephrata, 16.60
NSRA- #28 Drew Church

The Main Events started out great with the Youth Hornets putting on a show and the
audience cheering Jatender Veenstra to beat the boys!  A flat tire put her in the
back with 11 laps to go, and she raced around all them except one.  The mini's didn't
go as well, an early pile up sent Charlie Larr to the hospital for observation and
left 16 year old Austin Schooler with a tore up Vega, but Doug Brown got his Main
Event win.  The NSRA was a loud and fast 50 lapper with Jeff Montgomery leading
most of the race, which was crazy with 22 cars in the way!  Matt Hein used all that
traffic to his advantage and led the last few laps to victory.  The Big Cars were
supposed to bring a boat to drag behind them, but in standard race driver fashion,
they also tied couches, snomobiles and boats to their cars and trucks and had a
ball!  Here's how they finished:

YH- #16 Blackburn
#11 Veenstra
