Contact from Patrick Long’s car on Turn 11 of the final lap left Joey Logano spinning around and eventually finishing 17th. Long was subsequently penalized to the 23rd position in the final rundown, the final car on the lead lap, giving the win to Jason Bowles.

SONOMA, Calif. – A wild finish left Jason Bowles in Victory Lane on Saturday as the repeat winner in the Bennett Lane Winery 200 presented by Supercuts at Infineon Raceway.

Bowles inherited the lead following a last-lap incident between his teammate, Patrick Long, and Joey Logano, who had led 38 of 64 laps in the NASCAR Camping World Series West event on the 1.99-mile road course.

Contact from Long’s car on Turn 11 of the final lap left Logano spinning around and eventually finishing 17th. Long was subsequently penalized to the 23rd position in the final rundown, the final car on the lead lap, giving the win to Bowles.

“Actually, the real winner here today is my teammate Patrick Long,” Bowles said. “I was just the beneficiary of some rough driving. We were in the right place at the right time at the end.”

Long, who has competed in the NASCAR Camping World Series East this season on off weekends from his sports car racing schedule, was making his debut in the NASCAR Camping World Series West. He dashed into the lead from the pole position and led the first 19 laps, before making a green-flag pit stop for fuel.

Logano, who had opted to stop for fuel earlier during a caution on lap 14, charged his way to the front after restarting 22nd and took the lead on lap 26. Long methodically worked his way forward after his stop, eventually gaining the runner-up spot behind Logano. Bowles ran in his wake, with Boris Said and David Gilliland trailing next in line.

Long pressured Logano in the final laps, shadowing him around much of the 1.99-mile course. They charged around the twisting track on the final lap. Contact between the two in Turn 11 left Logano’s car spinning. Long was moved back in the race rundown, with Bowles taking the win.

David Mayhew was second, followed by Eric Holmes, Boris Said and Johnny Borneman. Rounding out the top 10 were Todd Souza, Tom Hubert, Ryan Foster, Stan Silva and Kyle Kelley.

With his win, Bowles was able to trim the championship lead of Holmes to just 16 points. Holmes leads 1,190 to 1,174 for Bowles - with Mayhew third at 1,131, Mike David fourth at 1,060 and Greg Pursley fifth at 1,017.
