Airway Heights, WA-As the 1/2 mile oval track at Spokane County Raceway
wraps up its inaugural season, their premier division, the SCR Late Models, crown their first
track champion, Jason Jefferson.  Jefferson is not new to late model racing, as he
was a previous Rookie of the Year on the NASCAR NW Tour, and
a previous NASCAR Camping World West Winner, he was new to Spokane County Raceway
this year.  The night started off perfect for Jefferson as he set fast time at
19.283 and won the A Heat.

As the support classes took the track, the Minor Maniacs, a class for drivers
between the ages of 14-18, saw 17 year old Brenden Tarr win the main event.
Brenden's older brother, Brycen Tarr, won the main event in
the Zips Pony Stocks division, giving him his 2nd win of the season.  The NW Late
Model 4's had a very tight race, but it was Travis Allen who would come to the
checkered flag in first place.

As the SCR Late Models took the green flag and started their championship race, Ryen
Tarr and Braeden Havens would battle side by side and swap the lead back and forth.
As they battled Colton Garber would sneak by both of
them and go on to lead the most laps.  Soon after, Havens touches the dirt, spins
and collects Jefferson.  Both Havens and Jefferson would put on a great show as they
drove through the field on their way back up to
the front.

On lap 27, both Dan Garber and Jefferson pass Colton Garber for the lead.  Dan and
Jefferson lead a gaggle of cars around the track side by side for five laps.  With
Jefferson on the outside, Dan gets into turn 3 a little
hot and both the leaders spin and have to go to the back.

Now it is Dave Garber, driving for the two car team Osborne Racing from Las Vegas,
NV, and Colton Garber battling for the lead.  As Dave overtakes Colton and starts to
gain a couple lengths, Jefferson is back up
to third.  With four laps to go, Jefferson passes Colton, but Dave Garber has run a
flawless race and leads Jefferson to the checkered flag. Dave Garber, in the Osborne
Racing Pontiac Grand Prix wins the race, and gets
the trophy, but Jason Jefferson in the Hippo Car Wash Dodge Charger, winsthe 2009
SCR Late Model Championship.
