KALISPELL, Mont. (September 19, 2009)-Scott Dalla and Devin Clayton captured 2009 championships in the Thunder Roadster and Bandolero divisions respectively with Dalla earning the 35-lap main event victory Saturday night while Clayton finished second in the 25-lap run at Montana Raceway Park as Vitamin Water and Full Throttle Energy Drinks sponsored Fan Appreciation and Back to School Night with free grandstand admission for all race fans.

Dalla and Zach Havens battled for nearly the entire length of the Roadster 35-lap run with the capacity crowd on their feet as Havens nosed out in front with three laps to go. Havens ran in front of Dalla as the pair exited turn No. 4 but Dalla used a strong outside pass for the lead, collected the white flag and powered away to his championship.

John Logan, Scott Lee and Joe Rohrman rounded out the top-5 running order.

Clayton took an early lead on Dalton Halden and Mike Hilliker in the Bandolero Young Guns main event with Tristan Corpron riding fourth and matching the quick pace of the top-3. Clayton and Halden ran nose-to-tail for over 10 laps with Hilliker looking high side at every chance. Hilliker was able to clear Halden then Clayton for the lead en route to his third main event victory in as many races.

With Hilliker out front Clayton and Halden, who came into the final race of the season separated by 10 points, competed at every corner for second and third with points on the line as the laps came to a close. Halden made one final attempt to clear Clayton but could not make the pass stick exiting turn No. 4 and the pair rode out a first and second place finish in the ’09 points standings.

Addie Thornton earned the Bandolero Bandits championship by virtue of a runner-up finish to Devin Jadwin.

The Bomber division ran its longest race of the season with a 75-lap main event. For some of the drivers the distance was the longest they’d raced in their careers.

Jason Young moved up to the lead by lap 15 and then held off a determined Dave Berglund over the final 35 laps for the victory with Bill McCallum rounding out the top-3.

“Man that was a lot of work,” Young said upon exiting his car. “There at the end of the race I was losing oil and the tires were going away and it was all I could do to hold off Dave. That was fun and I hope the crowd loved the racing.”

Jason Robinson moved by his brother Josh just before the halfway point of the 25-lap Limited Sportsman main event and padded his points lead in the chase for the 2009 championship over his sibling rival. While the Robinson’s were busy working through lapped traffic late it was Chuck Swope and Adam Kinkel that had the fans cheering to the finish.

Kinkel and Swope raced for third place for over 20 laps with Swope matching Kinkel’s attempts at a pass by moving just in front exiting a corner. Kinkel would then reel up Swope and the pair would battle again with Kinkel able to clear exiting turn No. 4 as the checkered flag fell.

Justin Greskowiak has been knocking on the door of a Hornet division main event victory over the last month and used a dominant performance over Jarred White and the division’s points leader, Katie Pilsch, to pick up the win. Cory Rehm and Kyle Basler, who trail Pilsch for the class championship with one weekend of racing remaining, rounded out the top-5.

Racing resumes at Montana Raceway Park on Saturday, September 26 with championship racing in the Limited Sportsman, Hornets, Hobby Stocks, Bombers, Compacts and Legends divisions. For tickets and other information log onto www.montanaracewaypark.com or call (406) 257-7223.
