Date Change Announced For NASCAR K&N Pro Series West Season Finale

The 125-mile NASCAR K&N Pro Series West race now set for Nov. 13 is part of four days of NASCAR racing action at Phoenix that also includes the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, the NASCAR Nationwide Series, and the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series.

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – A date change has been announced for the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West season finale at Phoenix International Raceway in November. The championship race at PIR has been moved from Thursday, Nov. 11, to Saturday, Nov. 13, providing fans with a better opportunity to have an up close and personal experience with one of NASCAR’s premier developmental series. The green flag will drop shortly after 6 p.m. local time 

Teams from the K&N Pro Series West will qualify on Thursday, Nov. 11. The following day on Friday, Nov. 12, fans will be able to tour the series’ garage in an open house from 12-5 p.m. in PIR’s interactive midway, located behind the grandstands between Turns 1 and 2. . As part of this first-ever garage open house at PIR, all fans in attendance that day will have an opportunity to see NASCAR K&N Pro Series West cars up close and will be able to interact with teams and drivers. All PIR patrons will also be able to observe the official pre-race inspection process, participate in autograph sessions, driver and team Q&A sessions and more. PIR season ticket holders will be granted early entry to the open house at 11:30 a.m.

“We are excited to be able to host the season finale for the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West at PIR and crown the 2010 champion – the Kobalt Tools 500 weekend has always had championship implications across all four NASCAR divisions,” said PIR President Bryan R. Sperber. “Additionally, our date change for this event has allowed us to create a first: the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West garage in the Midway where fans can mingle with drivers and teams.”

The 125-mile NASCAR K&N Pro Series West race is part of four days of NASCAR racing action at Phoenix that also includes the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, the NASCAR Nationwide Series, and the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series.

“We are looking forward to this event as the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West wraps up its 2010 championship season at Phoenix International Raceway,” said George Silbermann, NASCAR managing director for racing operations. “This revised schedule will provide opportunities for expanded coverage of the final regular season race of the year. We think this is great news for not only our teams and sponsors, but especially for our fans.” 

The Kobalt Tools 500 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race is slated to begin at 1 p.m. local time on Sunday, Nov. 14. On Saturday, Nov. 13, the WYPALL* 200 NASCAR Nationwide Series race is set to get underway at 2:30 p.m., followed by the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West race at 6 p.m. Competition on Friday, Nov. 12, will feature the Lucas Oil 150 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race beginning at 6 p.m.

Spectator gates open at noon on Thursday, Nov. 11; 10 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 12; 9 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 13 and 8 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 14.
